This could be a dumb question, as my computer skills are not the greatest, but why is this new forum site set to central time?

Probably because that's where the Webmaster/Administrator lives.

Oh, I thought it was because Texas was Central time

in my profile under preferences I saw an option to change the time zone you see

Well then I am in the capital 'cause I listen to BBC World Service and hear Big Ben on the hour
